Legendary player Mario Schembri dies.
On the 7th March 2008 at Mater Dei Hospital, Mario (il-Buffon), aged 51, former international footballer of Zurrieq passed peacefully away comforted by the rited of Holy Church.
Schembri was considered as one of the most talented products from Zurrieq before his short spell with Valletta in 1987.
Mario Schembri also played with our team Zurrieq Wolves.for 3 seasons. He won with us the Inter League and was even given a trophy for the club captain. He scored 6 goals from these seasons.
